LIVERPOOL female enterprise agency The Women’s Organisation has hosted a visit by a top Eurocrat at its new £5m centre.
Agnes Lindemans, head of the European Commission unit for regional operations in the UK and Ireland, toured The Women’s International Centre for Economic Development (WICED) with a Northwest Development Agency delegation.
Maggie O’Carroll, chief executive of The Women’s Organisation, formerly Train 2000, said: “Our centre is a beacon to women’s enterprise and we are delighted to show people around as we’re very proud of it.”
WICED, in the Baltic Triangle, was developed with a £2.4m investment from the European Regional Development Fund, part of a £5.2m loan finance package.
David Malpass, European Programme director, said: “Women have been identified as a key group for increasing enterprise activity.
“This new centre will address the specific business support needs of female entrepreneurs.”
